19th of December, 2025 ---- Another journal entry? Hell must have frozen over,,, I was encouraged to take a break from the internet the night before last, and that's what I've been trying to do, though admittedly I have scrolled through Tumblr a bit and watched a few Youtube videos. Really, the main goal was for me to take some time for myself to relax and to do things that I wanted, rather than things I thought others would want me to do, which is admittedly a nasty habit of mine. It's been strange filling the time up during the day, without much in the way of schoolwork or idle chatter on Discord, so I've been trying to tie up some loose ends, mostly. Site-wise I've finally, finally brought the cat gallery up to date with all the images people have kindly drawn and then emailed to me. We're up to 95 cats now! which is incredible, far more than I'd ever expected when starting that project. I also intend on poking at my Elder Scrolls subsite again, which I got a decent way through the structural side of things and then deflated on the writing side months and months ago now. It's one of those things where the longer it goes on without me finishing it, the more guilty and embarrassed I feel, which in turn makes it harder to work on anything... But overall, I think it's fairly close now? I've just got a bunch of art to do for it and a bit of in-character writing, which is always the trickiest part. I get so self conscious about any creative writing, it's unfortunate. Speaking of Elder Scrolls, however! I'm reading 'The Infernal City' by Greg Keyes again, the first of two books that I've been wanting to read for a while and found by complete chance in Forbidden Planet in London while Cammy and I were doing touristy things. I started reading it then and got about three chapters in before getting distracted and never getting back to it. Now it's been months since I've picked it up, so I decided to read from the beginning again to make sure I didn't forget anything. The silliest thing about me not finishing this book earlier is the fact it isn't even a long book, only about 72k words in total. In fact I started reading it late last night and picked it back up again this morning, and now I'm very nearly done with it. Less than a day in all. Anyway, I've quite enjoyed it. The wording can be a little funky at times but I think it adds to the vibe. I've liked all the characters I've been introduced to, and there's a few. Annaig the Breton girl from a noble family long since fallen on hard times who is adventurous and inventive and always getting her long suffering Argonian friend, Mere-Glim, into trouble. Colin, a mercenary working for the Empire who is willing to spill blood in order to bring home enough money to keep is impoverished mother safe. He has been sent out in search of Attrebus, the son of the Emperor who gets himself kidnapped immediately upon heading out againts his father's wishes to rescue Annaig after receiving a cry for help from her. Attrebus then finds himself in the company of Sul, a Dunmer with a dark past who receives cryptic predictions of the future in the form of nightmares from the Daedric Prince, Azura, one of which told him to seek out Attrebus. He's also so so sick of Attrebus' shit, as the guy has been spoilt and lied to his whole life and is coming to terms with the fact he's actually not a good fighter or particularly smart. It's really good. What else has been going on? Oh yes, I have been working on a few projects recently, since I finished up on my deadlines and a bit before then too. Firstly, I've been drawing a few screens for Cammy's Guitar Hero disc, marfGH, which has been a neat experience. I even had a go at making a custom font for one of the screens. That whole project should be releasing real soon, on the 25th, so look out for that! I'll try to remember to link it here. He's put a lot of work into it and it's coming out really cool. You can check out the trailer he put out for it right here. Otherwise I also got fixated on putting together a fancy PNGtuber over the course of a few days, using a piece of software called Rahituber. I've tried PNGtuber Plus and Remix but they've both been glitchy in annoying ways for me. The main learning curve with Rahituber has absolutely been the UI, which made no sense to me at first. I'd already sketched out a puppet back in April so I used that as a base as I figured out the controls. I now,,,, kind of know how to use it, kind of. I am happy with what I created however! I don't know when or if I'll use it yet but it's fun to play around with. Here's a video up on Youtube showing a bit of it. There's also an alt without the tablet and one holding a controller, plus she has a waggy tail and is a fullbody sprite, I just have her sat in the bottom left corner for layout testing purposes. I'm really proud of the tablet and the fact it follows cursor movement in the way it does so that's what I'm showing you,,, Random personal aside to end this journal entry, I'm looking into the future with regards to education, and I've gotten an interesting suggestion from my year tutor recently. She recommended that I try for a place on a masters course up in Cambridge, which is tempting. My parents are all for it and it'd only be 18 months overall if I did go for it and got accepted, though it would mean moving away from home for the first time. Which is silly, at my big age. But I've always been at home, and maybe this would be a good way of heading out into the world without leaping straight into the void. We shall see, we shall see! It's interesting looking back at old journal entries and seeing me talk about starting college and then university. Who knows what the future holds, I guess. That's my update for now, I'm going to finish up this book and maybe get a start on the second one. I've asked for some more books for Christmas and will hopefully receive one or two. Thinking about it, I also have several Douglas Adams books still to read from last Christmas... I got like five chapters into Dirk Gently and then forgot to continue. Life has been a bit of a mess as of late. Regardless, hope everyone is having a good time this Winter break, see you later.
